Identifier Ranges
Overview
Identifier Ranges in RMS are a routing mechanism that allow the system to determine where a parcel should go based solely on the barcode/identifier scanned - even when no shipment data has been provided. They are used for domestic shipments and rely on carrier‑assigned identifiers embedded in parcel barcodes.
Identifier ranges allow RMS to:
- Identify the correct destination warehouse
- Determine the receiving warehouse
- Identify the retailer
- Trigger the correct workflow
- Create a parcel record even when no shipment record exists
