Email Notifications
Overview
This page page provides details of the timeline for creating and sending email notifications, along with details of any errors that may occur.
Email notifications
Notification creation
Drafted
The notification was created by ZigZag.
Canceled
The email notification has been created, but not sent because of a specific Liquid condition. It is therefore a desired behavior (and can be modified if necessary).
Error building
We encountered an error while building the notification because of two possible reasons
- No email - We did not receive the email address of the customer (the email field was empty in the package details).
- No template - There is not any template for this notification. This can happen when a language has been added to ZigZag but the associated email templates have not been generated.

SendGrid error
The email was processed by SendGrid but returned an error, such as:
- Bounced
If a server cannot or will not deliver a message, SendGrid fires a bounce event. Bounces are often caused by outdated or incorrectly entered email addresses. - Blocked / Deferred
When an email cannot be delivered immediately but hasn’t been fully rejected, a deferred event fires (sometimes called a soft bounce). SendGrid will continue trying to deliver the message for up to 72 hours. - Dropped
This event informs your system when an email has been dropped. This event happens if we have found spam content or we see that the recipient has unsubscribed previously. - Spam reported
Triggered when a recipient reports an email as spam. Unfortunately, no action can be taken in this case. - Unsubscribe
One of the most important events fires when a recipient unsubscribes from your mailings.
When a recipient unsubscribes from a notification, it is effective for the current order. Tracking notifications will be effective again on the next order (our notifications being considered transactional and non-marketing).

Potential errors
the email was processed by our notification partner, but it returned an error like :
- Bounced
if a server can't or won't deliver the message, this triggers a bounce event. Bounces are often caused by timeouts or incorrectly entered email addresses. - Blocked
When an email cannot be delivered immediately, but has not been completely rejected, the blocking event is triggered. Sometimes called a soft bounce, we'll keep trying for 72 hours to deliver a blocked message. - Dropped
this event informs you that an email has been abandoned. This happens when the email is considered spam, or if the recipient has previously unsubscribed. - Spam
when we receive a specific spam alert, it triggers a spam event. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about this. - Unsubscribed
One of the main events triggered when a recipient unsubscribes from your emails.
Regarding unsubscribing - when a recipient unsubscribes from a notification, the unsubscription is effective for the current order. Follow-up notifications will be effective again for the next order (our notifications are considered transactional, not marketing).
